Lowell Folk Festival

It's the Monday after an awesome weekend at the Lowell Folk Festival. If you haven't heard of it then please allow me to explain: It's the largest free festival around, free admission, live music, dancing, carvings and culture from around the world. There are also food booths and vendors of all sorts !

There is something for everyone here from Polka music to Blue Grass ( which my 13 month old was loving ! ) This year I decided to try something new and got myself a Jamaican Beef Patty which was a little too spicy for me but tasty none the less. I also went with Philippine Food (which I absolutely love and look forward to having every year), Armenian salad pocket and Brazilian barbecue. I really enjoy experiencing foods of different cultures. It took me forever to taste octopus which in my Portuguese family we have every year on New Years Eve, I finally gave in about 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. Ever since then I have vowed to try something at least once.

Back to the festival, there were thousands of people and little issues that I know of. People were respectful of one another which we should all try and maybe just maybe the world would be a better place. I think things went so smoothly because of amped up security due to the recent marathon bombing. Homeland security was present. It's a little scary to see that but reassuring. I did take the time to thank the officers I did see and let them know I appreciate them keeping me and my family safe.

I am really looking forward to next year's festival.
