Battling ”The Croup ”

Poor Gina and I have been battling the croup; she was fine all Christmas day but when we got home from my aunt's house BAM, runny nose, and coughing. It gets worse, after I put her down to sleep for the night she started coughing badly and gasping, that scared me. I busted out the cool mist humidifier and got ready to stay up all night to keep an eye on her.

That was the longest night ever but between the cool mist and being elevated there was no more gasping. Thank goodness for my mother, she got up at 4am, which is usual for her, and she took over so I could sleep a little. As soon as the doctors office opened I gave them a call. Sweet baby girl had a fever of 101.9, eyes were sucken in and a drippy nose but she was still smiling.

We started a 5day treatment of steroids, lots of fluids, mattress elevation and a cool mist humidifier. I am glad to say we won the battle of the dreaded croup.

I do not wish this upon any child or mom, it's scary. Today Gina is back to her happy, silly bouncy self.

Scotch Brite all natural cleaning wipe..love it !

I recently received a free sample from 3M it was the Scotch Brite all natural cleaning wipes. AS you know I have a now almost 7 month old so all natural and clean are important to me. When I received the wipe I instantly thought, I must clean the activity center !!! Before cleaning it though I read it to make sure it really was safe for Gina and it was...this is gross but I cleaned a toy then stuck it in my mouth a bit later to make sure there was no lasting residue, I was quite pleased with the results.

I compared these wipes to the Dreft cleaning wipes and I prefer the 3m Scotch  Brite all natural cleaning wipes, they are not soaked in solution as with the Dreft cleaning wipes. Don't get me wrong I love Dreft but just prefer the 3m Scotch Brite all natural cleaning wipes.

Amazon.com helped me save a ton of money this holiday season; my oldest wanted The Lorax DVD which I snagged for $3.99 ...shipped !  The Hunger Games book, $1.97...shipped. I also got some super great deals for the baby too.I was already a fan of Amazon but now I am obsessed.

I heard people complaining that Amazon had raised their prices but honestly I have not seen it. Give them a looksie you will not be disappointed.

Newtown CT tragedy

I should be sleeping right now but cannot. I keep hearing and seeing the news reports replaying in my head over and over again about that horrible person opening fire in an elementary school.

They were babies and the kindergartens got the brunt of it... Five year olds. I did not know any of the families personally but I am still mourning for them.

I hugged my girls a little tighter, regardless if the odd look my 14 year old gave me and did not want to put the baby down. I want next to me and with me always. Please tell your family you love them, hug them.

I wish I could help take the pain and anguish these families must be feeling, 20 innocent children killed while in school where they should be safe. I am just sad for everyone.

Christmas

I have no Christmas spirit this year...zero, zilch, nada. I have tried singing Christmas Carols to Gina, looking at decorated houses, watching Christmas specials on t.v and meeting the big man himself with the baby. None of it has helped.

This will be Gina's first  Christmas and I wanted to make it memorable, least for me because she will not remember it ! I think the stress of this year took it's toll on me and my stress level is high maybe that's why it doesn't feel like Christmas. Guess I will plug on watching those specials,baking cookies, sending out cards and enjoying all the lights.

Slacking

Boy oh boy, I have been slacking lately with my blog and my sweeping !

I have been dealing with a headache every single day, and today is the first day it almost went away completely. They really take a toll on me. I am  hoping to ve headache free tomorrow so I can play catch up. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

Red Robin..... Yuuuum !

I won a Red Robin gift card the other day via a sweep from Sweeties Sweepstakes on Facebook ! I was excited to say the least. And it arrived today. Woot woot.

I decided to give it to my oldest daughter for Christmas; she loves that place even though she doesn't eat burgers !! Least she can take me to lunch one day ;-)

Expanding my horizons

As you know the blogging world as a writer is new to me, but I am slowly but surely learning !

This evening I applied to be a mom ambassador for Kiwi magazine (www.greenmomsmeet.com) I would be super excited if I got chosen. I love finding and sharing new green products for my kids.

There was also the option to advertise for them, I just need to learn how to do it and I will be expanding my horizon that much more. Thanks for following me on this journey so far.
